การสัมมนาในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ เพื่อศึกษาศักยภาพของธุรกิจนำเที่ยวในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือเพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมเข้าสู่ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน (AEC)ศึกษาปัญหาอุปสรรครวมถึงข้อเสนอแนะของธุรกิจนำเที่ยวในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือเพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมเข้าสู่ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน และประเมินขีดความสามารถในการรองรับนักท่องเที่ยวของธุรกิจนำเที่ยวในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือเพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมเข้าสู่ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน (AEC) กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการทำสัมมนาครั้งนี้คือผู้ประกอบการธุรกิจนำเที่ยวในภาคตะวันออกเฉียง จำนวน 62 แห่งโดยเลือกเพียง 3 จังหวัดที่มีบริษัทนำเที่ยวมากที่สุดในภาค ได้แก่ จังหวัดขอนแก่น นครราชสีมา และอุดรธานี รวมจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 120 แห่ง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการรวบรวม คือ แบบสอบถาม
