ประวัติวันนักประดิษฐ์
พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงมีความห่วงใยต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมที่นับวันจะมีสภาพเสื่อมลงเรื่อย ๆ รวมถึงน้ำซึ่งเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่สุดในการดำเนินชีวิตของมนุษย์ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงประดิษฐ์เครื่องกลสำหรับบำบัดน้ำเสียขึ้นหลายชิ้น เช่น ชัยพัฒนาซุปเปอร์ฟองแอร์ เครื่องตีน้ำชัยพัฒนา และชัยพัฒนาไฮโดรเป็นต้น แต่ชิ้นที่ประสบความสำเร็จมากที่สุด อีกทั้งเป็นชิ้นแรกที่ทรงได้รับสิทธิบัตรทางปัญญาได้แก่ กังหันน้ำชัยพัฒนา
