ระบบการศึกษาแห่งชาติของ สปป. ลาวแบ่

ระบบการศึกษาแห่งชาติของ สปป. ลาวแบ่งเป็น 2 ระบบ คือ การศึกษาในระบบ และการศึกษานอกระบบมีดังนี้
การศึกษาในระบบ ประกอบด้วย
ก.ระดับสามัญศึกษา คือ เตรียมอนุบาล (เลี้ยงเด็ก) อนุบาล 3 ปี ประถม 5 ปี มัธยมต้น 3 ปี มัธยมปลาย 3 ปี
หมายเหตุ : การศึกษาระดับประถมที่ใช้เวลาในการศึกษา 5 ปี เด็กจะเริ่มเข้าเรียนเมื่ออายุ 6 ปี การศึกษาในระดับนี้คือเป็นการศึกษาภาคบังคับ เด็กทุกคนต้องจบการศึกษาในระดับนี้ แต่ในทางปฏิบัติการศึกษาภาคบังคับจะมีผลดีแต่เฉพาะเด็กในเมืองใหญ่เท่านั้น เนื่องจากลาวมีพื้นที่ประเทศกว้างขวางและประชากรกระจายกันอยู่
ข.ระดับอาชีวะศึกษา ระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพ ระดับช่างเทคนิค และระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพชั้นสูง
ค.ระดับอุดมศึกษา มีมหาวิทยาลัย 3 แห่งคือ
(1) มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งชาติลาว นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ (National university of Laos)
(2) มหาวิทยาลัยสุพานุวง แขวงหลวงพระบาง
(3) มหาวิทยาลัยจำปาสัก แขวงจำปาสัก

คณะศึกษาศาสตร์ ใช้เวลาเรียน 5 ปี
การศึกษานอกระบบโรงเรียน มี 3 ประเภทคือ ฝึกอบรมผู้ใหญ่ที่อ่านและเขียนหนังสือไม่เป็น ยกระดับวิชาชีพให้แก่ผู้ใหญ่ และยกระดับวิชาการให้แก่เจ้าหน้าที่ และพนักงาน
นอกจากนี้มีการศึกษาภาคเอกชน ที่อนุญาตให้เอกชนจัดการเรียนการสอนในระดับเตรียมอนุบาลถึงระดับปริญญาตรี และปริญญาโท
