แพทย์หญิง นลินี ไพบูลย์ เกิดวันที่ 31 มกราคม 2502 เป็นบุตรคนโต ในจำนวนพี่น้อง 3 คน ของพล.อ.ต พิมล และ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์มณฑา ไพบูลย์ จบการศึกษาคณะแพทย์ศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และศึกษาต่อเป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านสูตินรีเวชวิทยา จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย
ภายหลังจบการศึกษาแพทย์หญิงนลินี ไพบูลย์ ได้ทำงานรับราชการเป็นสูตินรีแพทย์ ที่แผนกสูตินรีเวช โรงพยาบาลภูมิพลอดุลยเดช กรมการแพทย์ทหารอากาศ ในช่วงที่ทำงานรับราชการที่โรงพยาบาลภูมิพลอดุลยเดช กรมการแพทย์ทหารอากาศ แพทย์หญิงนลินี ไพบูลย์ ได้ดำเนินธุรกิจคลีนิกรักษาคนไข้ทั่วไป และด้วยความสนใจเป็นพิเศษในการรักษาโรคผิวหนัง ซึ่งในช่วงที่ศึกษาคณะแพทย์ศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยนั้น แพทย์หญิงนลินี ได้เข้าเรียนในชั้นเรียนการรักษาโรคผิวหนังเมื่อมีโอกาสด้วยความสนใจใฝ่ศึกษาและ เมื่อดำเนินกิจการคลินิก หลังจบการศึกษาจึงได้นำความรู้ ความสามารถนำมารักษาคนไข้ทั้งโรคทั่วไปและโรคทางผิวหนัง โดยเฉพาะการรักษาโรคผิวหนังซึ่งถือได้ว่าประสบผลสำเร็จอย่างดี จากการรักษาให้คนไข้ที่คลินิก ด้วยเหตุนี้ พ.ญ. นลินี จึงได้เกิดแรงบันดาลใจในการขยายผลต่อเนื่องในการรักษาและดำเนินธุรกิจเกี่ยวกับผลิตภัณฑ์เครื่องสำอางเพื่อสุขภาพผิวที่ดี และอาหารเสริมประเภทต่างๆ และได้ตัดสินใจเริ่มเปิดดำเนินธุรกิจเครื่องสำอางคและอาหารเสริมแบบครบวงจร ทั้งการผลิตและจำหน่าย โดยเป็นการจำหน่ายในแบบธุรกิจขายตรงและตั้งชื่อบริษัทโดยนำชื่อของบุตรสาว 2 คน คุณกิ๊ฟและคุณฟ้า มารวมเข้าเป็นชื่อ บริษัทกิฟฟารีน ซึ่งแพทย์หญิงนลินี เป็นผู้ริเริ่มก่อตั้ง และดำเนินธุรกิจเป็นผลสำเร็จด้วยดีตลอดมา จนถึงปัจจุบันได้ก้าวเข้าสู่ปีที่ 14 ของบริษัทกีฟฟารีน และบริษัทฯในเครือ
