ความเชื่อของชาวสเปน เชื่อว่าก่อนดื่มเหล้า องุ่น หากอธิษฐานขอให้ตัวเองโชคดี ก็จะโชคดี ซึ่งชาวสเปนถือเป็นธรรมเนียมต่อๆกันมา

ในคืนวันก่อนวันปีใหม่ของทุกๆปี ชาวสเปนจะมีธรรมเนียมการดื่มเหล้า องุ่น 12 แก้ว เพื่อความโชคดีทั้ง 12 เดือน ของปีใหม่ที่กำลังจะมาถึงและก่อนจะมีการดื่มเหล้าองุ่นในแก้วก็จะอธิษฐานขอให้ตัวเองมีแต่ความโชคดีก่อนดื่มเหล้าองุ่นจนหมดแก้ว

นอกจากนี้แล้วชาวสเปนบางคนยังเชื่อว่าหากโยนถังน้ำที่มีน้ำอยู่เต็มออกทางหน้าต่าง จะช่วยชะล้างทำความสะอาด ปัดเป่าโชคร้ายต่างๆออกไปจากบ้าน และเป็นการเริ่มต้นปีใหม่ที่ดีกว่าทุกๆปีอีกด้วย
