ในปัจจุบันมีศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนา ๖ ศูนย์ กระจายอยู่ตามภาคต่าง ๆ ดังนี้
๑. ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาเขาหินซ้อนอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา ดำเนินการค้นคว้า ทดลองและสาธิตเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาที่ทำกินของราษฎรให้มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์หลักในการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการผลิตของพืชหลายชนิด
๒. ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาห้วยทรายอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ จังหวัดเพชรบุรี ดำเนินการศึกษาแนวทางและวิธีการที่จะพัฒนาฟื้นฟูสภาพป่าเสื่อมโทรม โดยหาวิธีการที่จะให้เกษตรกรมีส่วนในการปลูก ปรับปรุงและรักษาสภาพป่าพร้อม ๆ กับมีรายได้และผลประโยชน์จากป่าด้วย
๓. ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาอ่าวคุ้งกระเบนอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ จังหวัดจันทบุรี ดำเนินการศึกษาและค้นคว้าเพื่อพัฒนาปรับปรุงสภาพแวดล้อมด้านประมงชายฝั่ง เพื่อให้เกษตรกรสามารถเพิ่มผลผลิต ซึ่งจะสามารถเลี้ยงตัวเองได้
๔. ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาภูพานอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ จังหวัดสกลนคร ดำเนินการศึกษาวิจัยเกี่ยวกับการทำเกษตรกรรมที่เหมาะสมกับสภาพแวดล้อมของภาคตะวันออกเฉียง เหนือ โดยเน้นการปรับปรุงบำรุงดิน การเร่งรัดพัฒนาป่าไม้โดยอาศัยระบบชลประทานและการปลูกพืชเศรษฐกิจ ที่มีผลต่อการเพิ่มรายได้ของเกษตรกร
๕. ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาห้วยฮ่องไคร้อันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ดำเนินการศึกษาค้นคว้าเกี่ยวกับรูปแบบที่เหมาะสมของการพัฒนาพื้นที่ต้นน้ำลำธาร เพื่อประโยชน์ทางเศรษฐกิจ รวมทั้งรูปแบบการพัฒนาต่าง ๆ ที่ทำให้เกษตรกรสามารถพึ่งตนเองได้โดยไม่ทำลายสภาพแวดล้อมทางธรรมชาติ
๖. ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาพิกุลทองอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ จังหวัดนราธิวาส ดำเนินการศึกษาวิจัยดินพรุที่มีอยู่อย่างกว้างขวางในภาคใต้ ให้สามารถนำมาใช้ประโยชน์ในด้านเกษตรกรรมให้ได้มากที่สุด
