ลิงกังใต้ หรือ ลิงกะบุด[3] (อังกฤษ: Southern pig-tailed macaque[1]; ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์: Macaca nemestrina[1]) เป็นลิงชนิดหนึ่ง จัดอยู่ในวงศ์ลิงโลกเก่า (Cercopithecidae)

มีรูปร่างอ้วนสั้น ขนสั้นสีเทาหรือสีน้ำตาล หน้าค่อนข้างยาว ขนบนหัวสั้นมีสีเทาหรือสีน้ำตาล และขึ้นวนเป็นก้นหอย ขนตรงส่วนใต้ท้องมีสีจางจนเกือบขาว ขนบริเวณหลังเป็นสีน้ำตาลไหม้หรือดำ หางค่อนข้างสั้น ตัวเมียมีขนาดเล็กกว่า และมีขนปรกหน้าผากน้อยกว่าลิงตัวผู้

อาศัยอยู่ตามป่าดิบบริเวณเชิงเขา ชอบเปลี่ยนที่อยู่ไปเรื่อย ไม่ค่อยอยู่เป็นที่ บางตัวออกหากินตัวเดียว ไม่รวมฝูง ชอบลงมาอยู่ตามพื้นดินมากกว่าอยู่บนต้นไม้ แต่เวลานอนขึ้นไปนอนบนต้นไม้ ชอบส่งเสียงร้องและมักร้องรับกันทั้งฝูง เริ่มผสมพันธุ์ได้เมื่อมีอายุ 3-4 ปี ผสมพันธุ์ได้ทุกฤดู ระยะตั้งท้องประมาณ 5-7 เดือน ออกลูกครั้งละ 1 ตัว และมีอายุยืนราว 25 ปี ตัวผู้หรือแต่ละตัวอาจผสมพันธุ์กับตัวอื่นได้หลายตัว และไม่อยู่เป็นคู่แน่นอน

จัดเป็นลิงที่มีสมาชิกในฝูงน้อยกว่าลิงชนิดอื่น ๆ คือ มีไม่เกิน 40-45 ตัว

กินอาหารจำพวกผลไม้, เมล็ดพืช และแมลงขนาดเล็ก เวลากินอาหารมักชอบเก็บไว้ข้างแก้มแล้วค่อย ๆ เอามือดันอาหารที่เก็บไว้ออกมากินทีละน้อย

เดิมลิงกังใต้เคยถูกจัดให้เป็นชนิดย่อยของลิงกังเหนือ (M. leonina) แต่ปัจจุบันได้ถูกแยกให้เป็นชนิดต่างหาก[1]

พบกระจายพันธุ์ตั้งแต่คอคอดกระในประเทศไทยลงไปจนถึงแหลมมลายู, เกาะสุมาตรา, เกาะบอร์เนียว, เกาะบังกา

ในประเทศไทย ลิงกังใต้ เป็นลิงที่คนไทยรู้จักและคุ้นเคยกันเป็นอย่างดี เพราะมักจะถูกจับมาเลี้ยงและฝึกให้แสดงต่าง ๆ ตามคำสั่ง เช่น ละครลิง หรือปีนต้นมะพร้าวเก็บลูกมะพร้าว ที่เกาะสมุย จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี จนกลายเป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวที่เป็นรู้จักกันอย่างดีทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติ เป็นต้น[4]

สำหรับการฝึกให้เก็บมะพร้าว จะใช้ลิงตัวผู้เนื่องจากมีตัวใหญ่ เรี่ยวแรงมากกว่าลิงตัวเมีย ลิงที่จะใช้ฝึกเป็นอย่างดีอยู่ในช่วงอายุไม่เกิน 3-5 เดือน และต้องเป็นลิงนิสัยดี เชื่อฟังต่อผู้เลี้ยง มีขนเป็นมัน สุขภาพแข็งแรง ฟันไม่มีความผิดปกติ เพราะจะมีผลต่อการกัดขั้วมะพร้าว ซึ่งลิงบางตัวใช้เวลาฝึกเพียง 3 เดือนก็ใช้เก็บมะพร้าวได้แล้ว โดยการฝึกจะเป็นแบบค่อยเป็นค่อยไปทีละขั้นตอน[5]

ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2552 มีชาวบ้านที่อำเภอรามัน จังหวัดยะลา ได้พบลิงกังใต้เผือกตัวหนึ่ง ในป่าสวนยางแถบเทือกเขาบูโด โดยพฤติกรรมของลิงตัวนี้แปลกกว่าลิงกังใต้ป่าโดยทั่วไป กล่าวคือ ไม่ดุร้ายก้าวร้าวต่อมนุษย์ และไม่มีอาการตื่นกลัวด้วย ซึ่งผู้ที่พบได้นำขึ้นทูลเกล้าฯถวายแด่ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว [6]

สถานะในกฎหมายปัจจุบัน เป็นสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครอง ตามพระราชบัญญัติสงวนและคุ้มครองสัตว์ป่า พุทธศักราช 2535
