อุปนายกสมาคมนักหนังสือพิมพ์เวียดนาม บอกด้วยว่า ปัจจุบันเวียดนามมีสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ต่างๆ ทั้งหนังสือพิมพ์และนิตยสารเฉพาะด้านต่างๆ กว่า 1 พันฉบับ มีสถานีโทรทัศน์และสถานีวิทยุประจำจังหวัดครบทั้ง 63 จังหวัด โดยสื่อทั้งในระดับชาติและระดับท้องถิ่นทั้งหมดอยู่ในความควบคุมของรัฐทั้งหมด แม้ว่าบางสื่อ เช่น นิตยสารและสถานีโทรทัศน์ ที่เน้นภาคบันเทิงจะเปิดให้ภาคเอกชนเข้ามาร่วมทุนด้วยแล้วก็ตาม
