โรงเรียนคณะราษฎรบำรุง จังหวัดยะลา โรงเรียนที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดของจังหวัดยะลา แรกเริ่มโรงเรียนนี้ตั้งอยู่ที่ หมู่ที่ 3 บ้านลิมุดตำบลท่าสาป เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2452 เปิดสอนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยมีอาคารเรียนเป็นอาคารโรงจาก ฝาไม้ไผ่ และขยายชั้นเรียนในปีต่อๆ มาจนถึงชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 3 โดยมี รองอำมาตย์ตรี สด สุขหุต เป็นครูใหญ่คนแรก ประมาณ พ.ศ. 2455 พระยาณรงค์ฤทธิ์ศรีประเทศเศษวังษา เจ้าเมืองยะลาในสมัยนั้น ได้มอบเงินจำนวนหนึ่งให้สร้างโรงเรียนใหม่ที่ฝั่งขวาของแม่น้ำปัตตานี ซึ่งเป็นฝั่งเดียวกับที่ตั้งศาลากลาง จังหวัดยะลา ในสมัยนั้น คือ หมู่บ้านสะเตง และย้าย โรงเรียนมาจาก บ้านลิมุด ในปี พ.ศ. 2456 และ ขนานนามโรงเรียนว่า "โรงเรียนณรงค์ฤทธิ์ยะลาราษฎร์บำรุง" และขยายชั้นเรียนเพิ่มขึ้นทุกปี ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2456 ถึง พ.ศ. 2478 จัดสอนเป็น 2 ระดับคือ ระดับประถมศึกษา มีชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ถึง ชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 ระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษามีชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ถึง ชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4

ปี พ.ศ. 2479 โรงเรียนมีชั้นเรียน 8 ชั้น เป็นชั้นประถมศึกษา 4 ชั้น คือชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ถึง ชั้น ประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 และชั้น มัธยมศึกษา 4 ชั้น คือ ชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที 1 ถึงชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 จำนวนนักเรียนมีมากจนสถานที่เรียนไม่เพียงพอ และคับแคบ เมื่อได้รับงบประมาณแผ่นดิน จำนวน 6,000 บาท และเงินสบทบของ"สาขาสมาคมคณะราษฎร์จังหวัดยะลา" อีก 2,000 บาท จึงมาสร้างโรงเรียนใหม่ที่หมู่บ้านนิบง ตำบลสะเตง อำเภอเมืองยะลา คือ ที่ตั้งโรงเรียนปัจจุบัน สร้างอาคารเรียนถาวรเป็นอาคารไม้ 2 ชั้น มี 6 ห้องเรียน และห้องมุขขนาดใหญ่ใช้เป็นห้องเรียนได้อีก 2 ห้อง สิ้นเงินงบก่อนสร้าง 8,000 บาท แล้วได้ย้ายโรงเรียนมาใน ปี พ.ศ. 2480 ทำพิธีเปิดป้ายชื่อโรงเรียน เมื่อวันที่ 22 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2480 ได้เปลี่ยนชื่อโรงเรียนใหม่ว่า "โรงเรียนคณะราษฎรบำรุง " เปิดสอนในระดับมัธยมศึกษาตั้งแต่ชั้นมัธยมปีที่ 1 ถึงชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ต่อมาประมาณปี พ.ศ. 2496 กรมวิสามัญศึกษา ได้ประกาศปรับปรุงชื่อโรงเรียนเสียใหม่ทั่วประเทศ เพื่อความเหมาะสม จึงได้เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น "โรงเรียนคณะราษฎรบำรุง จังหวัดยะลา"
