2.1. Reagents and materialsStandards of L-Tryptophan, used in the study, were suppliedfrom Sigma–Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). Acetonitrile, ammoniumacetate, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid were suppliedfrom Merck (Darmstadt, Germany). All aqueous solutions wereprepared with doubly distilled water obtained from the Milli-QSystem (Millipore, Bedford, MA, USA). During hydrolysis andsample preparation extra-pure nitrogen was used.Samples of wheat, rye, chickpea, red lentil, barley, and kidneybeans were purchased from local markets in Turkey and groundedto flour in the laboratory.
