คือการสร้างฝายชะลอความชุ่มชื้นหรือที่เรียกว่า Check Dam เพื่อปิดกั้นร่องน้ำหรือลำธารขนาดเล็กเป็นระยะๆ ให้เก็บกักน้ำและตะกอนดินไว้บางส่วน โดยน้ำที่เก็บไว้จะซึมเข้าไปสะสมในดิน ทำให้ความชุ่มชื้นแผ่ขยายเข้าไปทั้งสองฝั่งน้ำ กลายเป็นป่าเปียก
