เคยคิดไหมครับว่าทำไมเราจึงถูกสอนให้รักแม่ จากประสบการณ์ของผม ผมพบว่าคำตอบมักจะเป็นหนึ่งในเหตุผลดังต่อไปนี้

เหตุผลข้อที่หนึ่ง หากลูกรักพ่อแม่ ลูกก็จะคอยดูแลพ่อแม่ในยามที่พ่อแม่แก่เฒ่า ทำให้ผู้เป็นพ่อแม่ไม่ต้องคอยกังวลเมื่อถึงเวลาที่พวกท่านไม่สามารถดูแลตัวเองได้

เหตุผลข้อที่สอง การที่ลูกคอยดูแลพ่อแม่แสดงให้เห็นถึงความกตัญญูของลูก ทำให้ใครๆก็อยากจะคบหาสมาคมด้วย เพราะผู้ที่กตัญญูรู้คุณพ่อแม่ย่อมมีความกตัญญูรู้คุณต่อผู้อื่นเช่นกัน (โดยส่วนใหญ่)

เหตุผลข้อที่หนึ่งกล่าวถึงผลประโยชน์ที่ตกแก่พ่อแม่ ในขณะที่เหตุผลข้อที่สองกล่าวถึงผลประโยชน์ที่ตกแก่ลูก
