ประวัติสวนนงนุชพัทยา

ในปีพ.ศ. 2497 คุณพิสิฐและคุณนงนุช ตันสัจจา ได้ซื้อที่ดินแปลงใหญ่จำนวน 1,500 ไร่ ระหว่างพัทยา-สัตหีบ ซึ่งเป็นสวนผลไม้ เช่น ขนุน มะม่วง ส้ม มะพร้าว จากการที่คุณนงนุชเป็นผู้ที่ชื่นชอบต้นไม้ดอกไม้อย่างมาก ได้เกิดมีแนวความคิดที่จะ “จัดสวนให้คนมาเที่ยว” จึงตัดสินใจเปลี่ยนสวนผลไม้เป็นสวนไม้ดอกไม้ประดับและได้ปลูกสร้างสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆ เช่น บ้านพัก, ห้องอาหาร และโรงแสดงศิลปวัฒนธรรมและช้างแสนรู้ สำหรับให้บริการกับนักท่องเที่ยว นอกจากนี้ยังมีต้นไม้หลากสายพันธุ์เพื่อเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้สำหรับเยาวชนให้มีความเข้าใจผูกพัน มีความรักในธรรมชาติ
สวนนงนุชพัทยา ได้เปิดอย่างเป็นทางการในปี พ.ศ. 2523 ให้เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยว เชิงอนุรักษ์ด้านพฤกษศาสตร์อีกแห่งหนึ่งของโลก มีการนำพันธุ์ไม้จากภายในและภายนอกประเทศมาจัดสวนตามจินตนาการ ตลอดจนการจำลองสถานที่สำคัญ และน่าสนใจที่ถูกบันทึกว่าเป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลกมาจำลองไว้ให้ชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศได้ชมกันอาทิเช่น สโตนเฮ้นจ์ จากประเทศอังกฤษ หรือ รูปแบบการจัดสวนจากพระราชวังแวร์ซายน์ ประเทศฝรั่งเศส เป็นต้น
ปัจจุบันสวนนงนุชพัทยาได้มีการปรับปรุงและพัฒนาสวนให้สวยงามอย่างต่อเนื่องตลอดมา ซึ่งนับได้ว่าเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่ได้รับความนิยมระดับแนวหน้าแห่งหนึ่งในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และระดับโลก มีนักท่องเที่ยวจากประเทศต่างๆ เดินทางเข้ามาเยี่ยมชมวันละ กว่า 3,000 คน
