โครงงานนี้นำเสนองานวิจัยเรื่อง การศึกษาการออกแบบโครงสร้างชั้นทางยืดหยุ่นและชั้นทางแข็งเกร็งในมหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการทำโครงงานนี้เพื่อศึกษางานวิจัยและมาตรฐานที่เกี่ยวกับการออกแบบถนน ศึกษาการออกแบบโครงสร้างชั้นทางให้เหมาะสมกับปริมาณจราจรที่เกิดขึ้นภายในมหาวิทยาลัย โดยแบ่งเป็นการออกแบบผิวทางแบบยืดหยุ่น ด้วยวิธีเชิงประสบการณ์ (Empirical design) วิธี Asphalt Institute (1970) และวิธีการออกแบบเชิงวิเคราะห์ (Analytical design) วิธีเชิงวิเคราะห์และผิวทางแบบแข็งเกร็ง ด้วยวิธี Portland Cement Association (PCA) และวิธี AASHTO 1993 ซึ่งดินคันทางมีค่า CBR 5 % โดยที่โครงสร้างชั้นทางยืดหยุ่นมีอายุการใช้งาน 10 ปี กำหนดอัตราการเพิ่มขึ้นของปริมาณจราจร 2% 4% 6% 8% 10% และโครงสร้างชั้นทางแข็งเกร็งมีอายุการใช้งาน 20 ปี กำหนดอัตราการเพิ่มขึ้นของปริมาณจราจร 5% นอกจากนี้โครงงานวิจัยยังสามารถนำไปเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการพิจารณาการก่อสร้างถนนในมหาวิทยาลัยพะเยาได้
