My dearest wife-to-be Pim,This e-ma

My dearest wife-to-be Pim,

This e-mail is very complicated - but I know you are a clever girl and will understand it if you read it slowly.

There is one important thing that I think you need to talk to your parents about to stop their concerns, and that is about your own future financial security.

Firstly, it is not my intention to use any of your money now or in the future and your parents need to know this.

I am not rich but I do not need money from you - that is for you and your daughter. I own my own home , fully paid for. But I will explain my financial position.

Before I give details I need you to know I do not know if this money is a lot or little - I do not know Thailand wages or income.

At 67 I officially retire in the UK - 16 years from now. At that point my several pensions in the UK should kick in and pay about 100,000 baht a month to me. This is more than enough for me to live on.

When I shortly come to finally live with you I will have my own source of income.

I have 2 alternate choices I can make currently for the near future.

The first, I rent out my house in the UK - about 50,000-60,000 baht a month. OR sell the house and have about 1 million baht a year to live on until pension kicks in at 67. Which again is enough.

Renting out the house is better option for me as the value of the house goes up about 400,000 baht a year. So obviously it is a sitting investment for us.

It also means if I coninue to rent the house out when my pension arrives in 16 years time the income will be about 150,000 baht a month, until I die.

Basically Pim, I am not rich, but I am quite finacially secure to live with you.

If your father needs to see some evidence of this I will bring it with me to show him. I would feel better he knows that his daughter is not being married to a scam artist.

There is also something else you need to know if you are my wife. In the event of my death the money does NOT just stop. I believe that the money then becomes either a widows pension - you - or it will come in one big amount of cash to you - about 10,000,000 baht in one lump at todays prices - it would obviously go up in line with inflation.

And that is not including the value of the house on top.

I hope that this honest breakdown showns that you will be well taken care of in the event of my death. On returning from Thailand and signing papers with you, I will put your name on the 'spouse' paper to have the money paid direct to you should i die.

I do not need your money Pim.

You need to realise that giving you this information is given in the honest attempt to settle you if you worry any.

Marrying you  - signed officially - gives you this security.

You ask me why I want to marry you properly - one of the reasons is to give you future financial security. Only someone who love you would do that.

This is because I think of your future both with me and without me.

I do not like to think about my own death, but the details I tell you above are important for you to know about should I die.

I will bring paperwork with me when I finally live with you, so you know who to contact in the event of my death.

I do love you Pim, I care enough to tell you all this.

I hope you understand. I want your family at ease with me and you, knowing you are financially taken care of.

With love and hoping to not die too soon.
