วัดพระธาตุช่อแฮ เป็นวัดศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เก่าแก่ คู่บ้านคู่เมืองจังหวัดแพร่ และเป็นวัดพระธาตุประจำปีเกิดของผู้เกิดปีเสือ (ปีขาล) ตั้งอยู่บน
เนินเขาเตี้ยสูงประมาณ 28 เมตร บนเนื้อที่ 175 ไร่ ณ เลขที่ 1 หมู่ที่ 11 ถนนช่อแฮ ตำบลช่อแฮ อำเภอเมืองแพร่ จังหวัดแพร่ อยู่ห่างจากตัว
เมืองจังหวัดแพร่เป็นระยะทาง 9 กิโลเมตร
กรมศิลปากรได้ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนพระธาตุช่อแฮเป็นโบราณสถานในราชกิจจานุเบกษา ลงวันที่ 8 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2478 และได้
ประกาศกำหนดขอบเขตโบราณสถานลงวันที่ 14 ตุลาคม 2523
พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯให้ยกวัดพระธาตุช่อแฮ ตำบลช่อแฮ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดแพร่ เป็นพระอาราม

สารีริกธาตุที่เหลืออยู่ พระอรหันต์ทั้งปวงก็อัญเชิญไปบรรจุในพระเจดีย์ 84,000 องค์ แล้วประกาศแก่เทวดาทั้งหลายให้พิทักษ์รักษาตลอดไป
จนกว่าจะหมดอายุแห่งพระพุทธศาสนา 5,000 พระวัสสา
ชื่อพระธาตุช่อแฮมาจากความเชื่อว่า ขุนลัวะอ้ายก้อมได้นำผ้าแพรมาถวายพระพุทธเจ้า หรือชาวบ้านได้นำผ้าแพรชั้นดีทอจากสิบสอง
ปันนามาผูกบูชาพระธาตุ คำว่า “แฮ” เพี้ยนมาจากคำว่า “แพร” แปลว่าผ้าแพร
