ได้ศึกษาความสามารถในการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษด้านการฟัง พูด การอ่านและการเขียน ของนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีชั้น ปีที่ 1 มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลกรุงเทพ โดยได้กำหนดแรงเสริม(Treatment) คือการสอนแบบมุ่งประสบการณ์ภาษา มีการวัดความรู้ก่อนและหลังการทดลอง ผลการทดลองพบว่าความสามารถในการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในด้านการฟัง พูด การอ่านและการเขียนของนักศึกษาหลังได้รับแรงเสริมดีขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ซึ่งในมุมมองของ Harmer (1991) เห็นว่าการเลือกให้แรงเสริมต้องคำนึงถึงหลักสำคัญ 2 ประการคือ การให้ปัจจัยป้อนทางภาษาและการกระตุ้นให้ผู้เรียนสร้างผลผลิตทางภาษา ซึ่งในการให้ปัจจัยป้อนแก่ผู้เรียนนั้น ต้องเลือกปัจจัยป้อนที่มีความหมายในการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนเพื่อให้ผู้เรียนได้เข้าใจภาษาอย่างถ่องแท้ผู้สอนจึงต้องพยายามจัดประสบการณ์ต่าง ๆ ให้เอื้ออำนวยต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาของผู้เรียนทั้งทางด้านเนื้อหาวิชาและประสบการณ์ที่เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมและสังคม
จากงานวิจัยข้างต้นสรุปได้ว่านักศึกษาไทยประสบกับปัญหาอ่อนด้อยทางด้านภาษาอังกฤษ
ทั้งทักษะการพูด ฟัง อ่าน และเขียน ซึ่งอยู่ในระดับที่ต้องปรับปรุง ทั้งนี้หากผู้เรียนไม่สามารถแก้ปัญหาดังกล่าวจะประสบกับปัญหาการรับรู้และเข้าใจข้อมูลข่าวสาร รวมไปถึงการสื่อสารข้อมูลและความรู้ที่มีไปยังผู้อื่น
