ความเป็นมา
   เดิมเมืองพิษณุโลกเป็นเมืองเก่าสมัยขอมอยู่ห่างจากที่ตั้งเมืองปัจจุบัน ลงไปทางทิศใต้ ประมาณ 5 กิโลเมตร เรียกว่า" เมืองสองแคว "เหตุที่เรียกเช่นนี้ เพราะตั้ง อยู่ระหว่างแม่น้ำสองสาย คือแม่น้ำน่ากับแม่น้ำแควน้อยแต่ปัจจุบันแม่น้ำแควน้อยเปลี่ยน ทางเดิน ห่างออกจากตัวเมืองไปประมาณ 10 กิโลเมตร ที่ตั้งตัวเมืองเก่าในปัจจุบัน คือ บริเวณ วัดจุฬามณี ซึ่งเป็นวัดเก่าแก่ของพิษณุโลกต่อมา เมื่อประมาณพุทธศักราช 1900 สมัยสมเด็จพระมหาธรรมราชา(ลิไท)ได้โปรด ให้ย้ายเมืองสองแคว มาตั้งอยู่ ณ บริเวณตัวเมืองในปัจจุบัน และยังคง เรียกกันติดปากว่า เมืองสองแคว เรื่อยมา
