ความเป็นมา

พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว มีพระราชดำริให้ศึกษาทดลองการแก้ไขปัญหาดินเปรี้ยว ในที่ดินของมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนา ที่หมู่บ้านหนองคันจาม ตำบลบ้านพริก อำเภอบ้านนา จังหวัดนครนายก สรุปประเด็นสำคัญได้ดังนี้ “ในที่ดินของมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนา แปลงที่ 1 ให้ศึกษาทดลองแก้ไขปัญหาดินเปรี้ยว โดยใช้วิธีทางธรรมชาติ ส่วนในแปลงที่ 2 ให้พิจารณาใช้ระบบน้ำ และใช้ปูนแก้ปัญหาดินเปรี้ยวได้ นอกจากนั้นให้พิจารณาพัฒนาปรับปรุงดินและส่งเสริมอาชีพ เพื่อเพิ่มรายได้ให้กับเกษตรกรในพื้นที่ด้วย และสำหรับแปลงที่ 3 ให้จัดทำศูนย์ฝึกอาชีพด้านการเกษตร”


วัตถุประสงค์

เพื่อศึกษาทดลองวิธีการพัฒนาปรับปรุงสภาพดินและน้ำเปรี้ยวเพื่อการเพาะปลูก
เพื่อศึกษาทดลองและสาธิตการทำการเกษตรกรรมตามแนวพระราชดำริ ในพื้นที่ดินเปรี้ยวซึ่งได้รับการพัฒนาปรับปรุงแล้ว
เพื่อศึกษาทดลองและสาธิตการปลูกพันธุ์ไม้ป่าบึงน้ำจืดในที่ดินเปรี้ยว
