กลุ่มนิติพยาธิวิทยา  มีหน้าที่ความร

กลุ่มนิติพยาธิวิทยา  มีหน้าที่ความรับผิดชอบ ดังนี้ 

(1)  มีหน้าที่รับผิดชอบในการชันสูตรพลิกศพ,ผ่าศพและใช้วิธีทางวิทยาศาสตร์ในสาขาต่าง ๆ เพื่อหาสาเหตุการตายและพฤติการณ์การตายรายงานพนักงานสอบสวนเจ้าของคดีหรือญาติผู้ตาย บทบาทดังกล่าว  ประกอบด้วยหน่วยงานอีก 9 หน่วยงาน ได้แก่
(1)  หน่วยห้องผ่าศพ
(2)  หน่วยห้องปฏิบัติการจุลพยาธิวิทยา
(3)  หน่วยห้องปฏิบัติการกีฏวิทยา
(4)  หน่วยห้องอ่านผลชิ้นเนื้อของพยาธิวิทยา
(5)  หน่วยห้องเก็บสารคัดหลั่งและวัตถุพยานทางศพ
(6)  หน่วยห้องบันทึก  และพิมพ์รายงานการชันสูตรศพ
(7)  หน่วยจัดทำกล่องแสดงชิ้นเนื้อ  และพิพิธภัณฑ์
(8)  หน่วยรังสีวิทยา
(9)  หน่วยแพทย์ชันสูตรพลิกศพ ณ สถานที่เกิดเหตุ
(2)  ให้บริการชันสูตรพลิกศพ ณ ที่เกิดเหตุตามประมวลกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความอาญามาตรา 150 ตามที่พนักงานสอบสวนร้องขอในกรณีตายผิดธรรมชาติ 5 ประการ กรณีตายอุบัติเหตุ,ถูกฆ่าตาย, ฆ่าตัวตาย, ถูกสัตว์ทำร้าย, ตายไม่ทราบสาเหตุหรือกรณีตายในระหว่างการควบคุมของพนักงานเจ้าหน้าที่ตามที่กำหนดไว้ในประมวลกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความอาญา  มาตรา 148 โดยออกไปตรวจพร้อมกับทีมนักนิติวิทยาศาสตร์ไปร่วมเก็บพยานหลักฐานจากที่เกิดเหตุมาตรวจพิสูจน์ประกอบคดีอาญา  นอกจากนี้กลุ่มนิติพยาธิวิทยาให้บริการด้านการชันสูตรศพเพื่อหาสาเหตุการเสียชีวิตตามที่พนักงานสอบสวนหรือญาติร้องขอ
(3)  ปฏิบัติงานร่วมกับหรือสนับสนุนการปฏิบัติงานของหน่วยงานอื่นที่เกี่ยวข้องหรือ          ที่ได้รับมอบหมาย
