ประวัติอำเภอสีคิ้ว
จากหลักฐานประวัติศาสตร์อำเภอสีคิ้ว เป็นเมืองหน้าด่านในดินแดนแถบภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ เป็นถิ่นที่อยู่ของชาวไทยที่อพยพมาจากภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ และภาคเหนือของประเทศไทย เดิมอำเภอสีคิ้ว ชื่อว่า “ เมืองนครจันทึก” เป็นเมืองอิสระเมืองหนึ่ง ขึ้นตรงต่อเมืองหลวง มีเจ้าเมืองปกครอง จะตั้งขึ้นเมื่อใดไม่ปรากฏหลักฐาน สอบถามจากคนเก่าแก่ได้ความว่า ตั้งเมืองอยู่ ณ บ้านจันทึก หมู่ 3 ตำบลจันทึก ท้องที่ปกครองอำเภอปากช่องปัจจุบัน มีเจ้าเมืองปกครอง คือ

ภายหลังเมื่อเลิกด่าน จึงเปลี่ยนเป็นอำเภอ เรียกว่า “อำเภอจันทึก” เมื่อวันที่ 1 เมษายน ร.ศ.117 (พ.ศ.2441) จากนั้นในสมัยที่หลวงเทพโอสถ ดำรงตำแหน่งนายอำเภอ เมื่อ ร.ศ.120 (พ.ศ.2444) ได้มีการย้ายที่ว่าการอำเภอจันทึก จากบ้านจันทึก มาตั้งที่บ้านหนองบัว หมู่ 1 ตำบลลาดบัวขาว และใน พ.ศ. 2499 สมัยนายอำเภอชื่อหลวงแผลงเทพฤทธา ได้ย้ายที่ว่าการอำเภอจันทึกอีกครั้ง มาอยู่ที่บ้านสีคิ้ว (ท้องที่หมู่ 2 ตำบลสีคิ้ว อำเภอสีคิ้วปัจจุบัน) เหตุที่ต้องย้ายถึงสองครั้ง เพราะบ้านจันทึก และบ้านหนองบัว ตั้งอยู่ในเขตดงพญาเย็น (พญาไฟ) มีไข้ป่า (มาลาเรีย) ชุกชุม เป็นที่เกรงกลัวของข้าราชการจึงได้ย้ายมาที่บ้านสีคิ้ว ซึ่งอยู่นอกเขตดงพญาเย็น แต่เมื่อได้ย้ายอำเภอจันทึกแล้วปรากฏว่า ประชาชนที่มาติดต่อมักจะเข้าใจผิดเดินมาและลงรถไฟที่สถานีจันทึกอยู่บ่อยๆ ทางราชการจึงได้เปลี่ยนชื่อจากอำเภอจันทึก เป็นอำเภอสีคิ้ว ตามชื่อหมู่บ้านที่ตั้ง และชื่อสถานีรถไฟ เมื่อวันที่ 1 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2482 สมัยนายชำนาญ กระบวน ดำรงตำแหน่งนายอำเภอ
