วันที่ 11 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2556 รัชนก อินทนนท์ สามารถคว้าแชมป์การแข่งขันแบดมินตันโลกได้สำเร็จเป็นคนแรกของประเทศไทย และเป็นแชมป์โลกแบดมินตันที่มีอายุน้อยที่สุด รวมถึงในวันที่ 15 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2556 รัชนก อินทนนท์ ได้ขึ้นมาอยู่ในอันดับ 2 ของโลก จากการจัดอันดับของสหพันธ์แบดมินตันโลก
