การวิจัยในครั้งนี้ประยุกต์ใช้กรอบแนวคิดของ Health Belife Model มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับพฤติกรรมในการป้องกันโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจของชายวัยทอง กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นชายวัยทองที่อาศัยในเขตประเวศ กรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 315 ราย เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลในการศึกษาวิจัยโดยการสัมภาษณ์ ตามแบบวัดที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้น วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการใช้สถิติพรรณนา สัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์แบบเพียร์สันและการถดถอยพหุคูณแบบมีขั้นตอน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่มีพฤติกรรมในการป้องกันโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจ อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง(ร้อยละ 73.7) รองลงมา คือ ระดับสูง (ร้อยละ 20.6 ) และพบว่า อาชีพมีความสัมพันธ์กับพฤติกรรมในการป้องกันโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจของชายวัยทอง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ( p < 0.05 ) ร่วมกับอายุ การรับรู้ประโยชน์ การรับรู้อุปสรรค การรับรู้ความสามารถแห่งตนต่อการปฏิบัติตัว การได้รับข้อมูลข่าวสาร ( สื่อต่างๆ )และการมีสมาชิกในครอบครัวเจ็บป่วยด้วยโรคเรื้อรัง มีความสัมพันธ์ต่อพฤติกรรมในการปฏิบัติตัว เพื่อป้องกันโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจของชายวัยทอง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ( p < 0.01 )
