1. ประชาคมการเมืองและความมั่นคงอาเซียน (ASEAN Political Security Community : APSC)
2. ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน (ASEAN Economic Community : AEC) และ
3. ประชาคมสังคมและวัฒนธรรมอาเซียน (ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community : ASCC)
วัตถุประสงค์หลักของ AEC นั่นก็คือ การหลอมรวมการค้าให้เป็นตลาดเดียว การเปิดเสรีภาพทางการค้า และเพื่อขจัดภาษีการนำเข้าสินค้า ทำให้สินค้ามีราคาถูกและมีคุณภาพมาตรฐาน การพัฒนาโครงสร้างทางการค้าจะทำให้อาเซียนมีศักยภาพทางการค้าขายมากยิ่งขึ้น ตลอดทั้งการเชื่อมโยงให้เข้ากับเศรษฐกิจโลก เพื่อเป็นการยกระดับเงินทุนของธุรกิจให้สูงยิ่งขึ้น
