หวงหลงคือแนวหินสีเหลืองอันเกิดจากการจับตัวของแคลเซียม ความยาวประมาณ 7 กิโลเมตร กว้างราว 300 เมตร สลับทับซ้อนกันเป็นชั้นๆ คล้ายกับมังกร จึงมีอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า "เขาซ่อนมังกร" แอ่งน้ำหลากสี ภูเขาหิมะ โตรกธาร และผืนป่า ทำให้หวงหลงกลายเป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวยอดนิยม และเป็นเขตอนุรักษ์พื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำบนที่ราบสูงที่สมบูรณ์ที่สุดแห่งเดียวในประเทศจีน อีกทั้งยังเป็นที่อยู่ของสัตว์สายพันธุ์ที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์มากที่สุดอย่างแพนด้า และลิงขนทองเสฉวนอีกด้วย อุทยานแห่งชาติหวงหลง เป็นมรดกโลกทางธรรมชาติ พ.ศ. 2535
