ต่อมาได้มีการขยายพื้นที่ปลูกยางพาราไปยังแหล่งใหม่ทางภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือซึ่งมีสภาพแวดล้อมไม่เอื้ออำนวยต่อการปลูกยางพาราซึ่งการเจริญเติบโตของยางพารานั้นขึ้นอยู่กับสภาพลมฟ้าอากาศเป็นหลัก โดยความแปรปรวนของสภาพภูมิอากาศ ย่อมส่งผลกระทบต่อยางพาราในหลายด้านทั้งด้านสรีรวิทยา การเจริญเติบโต รวมไปถึงศักยภาพของผลผลิต โดยในจังหวัดสกลนครมีหลายพื้นที่ที่มีการปลูกยางพารา เช่น อำเภอวาริชภูมิ อำเภอวานรนิวาส อำเภอเต่างอย เป็นต้น งานวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบจากความแปรปรวนของสภาพภูมิอากาศที่มีต่อการผลิตยางพาราในจังหวัดสกลนครพื้นที่เพื่อนำเอามาประเมิณในการทำวิจัย โดยทำการวิเคราะห์ความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างลักษณะภูมิอากาศในจังหวัดสกลนครและปรากฏการณ์ความแปรปรวนของระบบภูมิอากาศในระดับภูมิภาค และความสัมพันธ์กับผลผลิตยางพารา โดยทำการศึกษาในสวนยางของเกษตรกรเพื่อประเมินความแปรปรวนของสภาพภูมิอากาศที่ส่งผลต่อผลผลิตของยางพาราและการพัฒนาในรอบปีของยางพารา
