แหล่งการเรียนรู้ที่ 3.อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์พิมาย หรือ ปราสาทหินพิมาย เป็นหนึ่งในอุทยานประวัติศาสตร์ของประเทศไทยค่ะ ตั้งอยู่ในตัวอำเภอพิมายค่ะ ประกอบด้วยปราสาทหินในสมัยอาณาจักรขอมที่ใหญ่โตและงดงาม สร้างขึ้นในสมัยพระเจ้าสุริยวรมันที่ 1 ราวพุทธศตวรรษที่ 16 ค่ะเพื่อใช้เป็นเทวสถานของศาสนาพราหมณ์ค่ะ
ตั้งอยู่ใน อ. พิมาย ซึ่งห่างจากตัวเมืองโคราชประมาณ 70 กิโลเมตร ปราสาทหินพิมายนี้มีเนื้อที่ 115 ไร่ เป็นปราสาทสมัยขอม ที่ใหญ่โตและยังสมบรูณ์งดงาม มีลักษณะเป็นสี่เหลี่ยม ชื่อ พิมาย น่าจะมากจากคำว่า วิมาย หรือ วิมายปุระ ที่ปรากฏในจารึกภาษาขอมบนแผ่นหินตรงกรอบประตูระเบียงคดด้านหน้าของปราสาท จากหลักฐานศิลาจารึกและศิลปะบ่งบอกว่า เริ่มสร้างขึ้นสมัยพระเจ้าสุริยวรมันที่ 1 ราวพุทธศตวรรษที่ 16 เป็นสถานที่ศาสานาพราหมณ์และได้มีการดัดแปลงเป็นสถานที่ทางพุทธศาสนาในสมัย พระเจ้าสุริยวรมันที่ 7
