ผลกระทบในทางบวก คือ ทำให้เกิดรายได้จากการจับจ่ายใช้สอยของนักท่องเที่ยว โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง ถ้าเป็นนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างประเทศจะทำให้ประเทศไทยมีรายได้เป็นเงินตราต่างประเทศเพิ่มขึ้นอีกทางหนึ่งนอกเหนือไปจากการส่งสินค้าออก นอกจากนี้ เงินที่นักท่องเที่ยวนำไปจับจ่ายใช้สอยย่อมกระจายไปสู่ท้องถิ่นที่มีแหล่งท่องเที่ยวตั้งอยู่ ทำให้เศรษฐกิจของท้องถิ่นดีขึ้น นอกจากผลดีทางด้านเศรษฐกิจแล้วยังก่อให้เกิดผลดีทางด้านสังคมและวัฒนธรรม โดยมีการแลกเปลี่ยนและเรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมซึ่งกันและกันระหว่างนักท่องเที่ยวกับคนในท้องถิ่น
