อีกหนึ่งมนต์เสน่ห์แห่งอันดามันใต้ เปรียบเป็นเกาะในสองท้องทะเล อันได้แก่ ท้องทะเลลันตา และท้องทะเลตรัง แวดล้อมด้วยเกาะเล็กๆซึ่งถือได้ว่า เป็นเพชรเม็ดงามแห่งอันดามัน ได้แก่ เกาะเชือก, เกาะม้า และเกาะแหวน และเกาะมุก ซึ่งทั้งหมดนี้ล้วนเป็นสถานที่ที่โดดเด่นในเรื่องการดำน้ำดูปะการังอ่อนและดอกไม้ทะเล รวมไปถึงเป็นแหล่งอาศัยของเหล่าฝูงปลาหลากหลายสีสันสวยงาม
เกาะไหง เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในความดูแลของอุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะลันตา เป็นเกาะขนาดเล็ก มีพื้นที่ประมาณ 4.8 ตารางกิโลเมตร ตัวเกาะมีความยาวประมาณ 4 กิโลเมตร ด้านทิศตะวันออกและด้านทิศใต้ของเกาะไหงมีลักษณะเป็น หาดทรายทอดตัวยาวเหยียด ทางด้านทิศใต้ มีลักษณะเป็นอ่าว ด้านทิศตะวันตก มีลักษณะเป็นภูเขาสูงชันซึ่งมีความสูงจากระดับน้ำทะเลประมาณ 198 เมตร ตั้งอยู่ห่างจากเกาะลันตาประมาณ 15 กิโลเมตร และตั้งอยู่ห่างจากจังหวัดตรัง เพียง 13 กิโลเมตร เท่านั้น
