Iron powder (์NC 100.24, purity 99.8%) was supplied by Hoganas (Hoganas,Sweden).Aluminum powder (AG 90/99.7 , purity 99.7%) was supplied by the Benda-Lutz company (Skawina, Poland).The average particle size is similar for both powders (around 100 um).The specific surface area measured by the BET method (Kr at liquid nitrogen) was 0.07 m2/g for the iron and 1.4 m2/g for aluminum.Three different compositions were investigated : 70%Fe+30%Al, 60%Fe+40%Al, and 50%Fe+50%Al (atomic).The powders were mixed in a Turbula mixer for 1 h and then uniaxially consolidated in a steel die under a pressure of 100 MPa. The specimens were cylinders with 49-mm diameter and 10-mm height.The density of sinters was measured by Archimedes method.
