Mineralogical Properties The mineralogical composition and the solubility in water of the mineral constituents of rice husk biochars are shown in Table 1 and Fig. 2. morphous (noncrystalline) silica, a major constituent of these biochars, generates a broad XRD peak centred at 2θ ~ 22.5o, which can be attributed to the presence of disordered cristobalite (Fig. 2) (Liou, 2004) and amorphous carbon also contributes to this broad peak (Radhika and Sugunan, 2006; Chen et al., 2011).
