เทศบาลนครหาดใหญ่ จะดำเนินการจัดกิจกรรมงานประเพณีลอยกระทง ประจำปี 2559 ในวันจันทร์ที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน 2559 ณ ตลาดสีสันสามชัย (ถนนสามชัย) อ.หาดใหญ่ จ.สงขลา

เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริม อนุรักษ์ประเพณีอันดีงามของท้องถิ่นและประเพณีโบราณของไทย เป็นการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจในภาพรวม โดยอาศัยการท่องเที่ยวและการจัดกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ เป็นเครื่องมือในการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจให้บ้านเมืองกลับสู่ภาวะปกติ และกิจกรรมบางประเภทเป็นการดำเนินการตามประเพณี วัฒนธรรม ซึ่งจำเป็นต้องสืบสานให้ดำเนินการต่อไป แต่ต้องทำให้อยู่ในกรอบตามที่รัฐบาลกำหนดไว้ ซึ่งจะมีกิจกรรมต่างๆ เช่น
