ประเพณีวันสงกรานต์
วันสงกรานต์เป็นวันขึ้นปีใหม่ของไทยมาแต่โบราณก่อนที่จะมีการประกาศวันขึ้นปีใหม่แบบสากล ในขณะที่ชาวต่างชาติต่างรู้จักวันสงกรานต์ในฐานะของการละเล่นสาดน้ำคลายร้อนที่โด่งดังไปทั่วโลกซึ่งตรงกับวันที่ 13 , 14, 15 เมษายนของทุกปี
ในระหว่าง 3 วันนี้ จะมีกิจกรรมต่างๆ เกิดขึ้นมากมาย เช่น การทำความสะอาดบ้านเรือน เข้าวัดทำบุญ ขนทรายเข้าวัด ก่อเจดีย์ทราย สรงน้ำพระ รดน้ำดำหัวผู้ใหญ่ และการละเล่นสาดน้ำของหนุ่มสาว
ในวันที่ 13 เมษายน จะเรียกว่าวันมหาสงกรานต์ เป็นวันสิ้นปีเก่าเตรียมเข้าสู่วันขึ้นปีใหม่ ผู้คนก็จะปัดกวาด ทำความสะอาดบ้าน เพื่อชำระล้างสิ่งไม่ดีให้ออกไปจากบ้าน เป็นการต้อนรับปีใหม่ บางบ้านก็จะยิงปืน จุดประทัด หรือทำอะไรก็ได้ให้เกิดเสียงดัง เพื่อขับไล่สิ่งไม่ดีต่างๆ ออกไป
วันที่ 14 เมษายน วันเนาหรือวันเน่า ตามวัดวาอารามต่างๆ จะมีการเตรียมงานทำบุญสงกรานต์ ตอนบ่ายๆ จะมีการขนทรายเข้าวัดเตรียมก่อเจดีย์ทราย ในวันนี้คนโบราณมีความเชื่อว่า ห้ามพูดจาไม่ดีต่อกัน ห้ามทะเลาะเบาะแว้ง เพราะจะทำให้โชคไม่ดีไปตลอดปี
วันที่ 15 เมษายน วันเถลิงศกหรือวันพญาวัน เป็นวันที่ผู้คนพากันเข้าวัด ทำบุญอุทิศส่วนบุญส่วนกุศลแก่ผู้ที่ล่วงลับไปแล้ว มีการรดน้ำดำหัว ขอพรจากผู้สูงอายุ ผู้อาวุโสในชุมชน มีการก่อเจดีย์ทราย การละเล่นสาดน้ำของหนุ่มสาว ซึ่งเป็นโอกาสสำคัญที่หนุ่มสาวจะได้พบปะกันพูดคุยกัน ได้ด้วยการละเล่นสาดน้ำ
