ประวัติ
ชัย ราชวัตร มีชื่อจริงว่า สมชัย กตัญญุตานันท์ เป็นชาวจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี เกิดเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2484 ในครอบครัวคนไทยเชื้อสายจีน จบการศึกษาจากโรงเรียนเบ็ญจะมะมหาราช หลังจากจบการศึกษาที่บ้านเกิดแล้ว ก็เข้ากรุงเทพมาเรียนวิชาบัญชีที่โรงเรียนกรุงเทพการบัญชีวิทยาลัย เพราะต้องการทำงานธนาคาร เมื่อเรียนจบก็ได้เข้าทำงานที่ธนาคารกรุงศรีอยุธยา แต่ก็ออกจากงานเนื่องจากความเบื่องาน
วงการหนังสือ
