คำขวัญวันเยาวชนแห่งชาติ


สืบเนื่องมาจากคำประกาศขององค์การสหประชาชาติ ได้ขอให้ประเทศสมาชิกร่วมเฉลิมฉลองปีเยาวชนสากลภายใต้คำขวัญ “Participation Development and Peace” ถอดความเป็นภาษาไทยว่า “ร่วมแรงแข็งขัน ช่วยกันพัฒนา ใฝ่หาสันติ” โดยละเอียดแล้วแต่ละคำซึ่งมีความหมายละเอียดลึกซึ้งต่อเยาวชนทุกคน สามารถยึดถือและนำไปปฏิบัติดังนี้

ร่วมแรงแข็งขัน (participation) หมายถึง การยอมรับในศักยภาพของแต่ละบุคคล ที่จะสามารถวินิจฉัยและตัดสินใจในเรื่องที่เกี่ยวกับตนเอง และตระหนักว่าตนมีโอกาส ได้ใช้โอกาสและพึงพอใจที่ได้ใช้โอกาสด้วยตนเองอย่างเกิดคุณค่าโดยไม่ตกเป็นเครื่องมือของผู้ใด การที่เยาวชนสามารถมีส่วนร่วมและมีบทบาทต่อชาติบ้านเมืองได้อย่างเต็มที่นั้น เป็นความสำเร็จของสังคมและประเทศชาติที่สำคัญ

ช่วยกันพัฒนา (development) การพัฒนานั้นมองได้ 2 มิติ มิติหนึ่งคือ การพัฒนาตนเองของแต่ละบุคคล และอีกมินิหนึ่งคือ การพัฒนาสังคมและประเทศชาติ หากบุคคลพัฒนาตนเองได้ดีก็จะเป็นกำลังสำคัญ และอีกมิติหนึ่งคือการพัฒนาสังคมและประเทศชาติ หากบุคคลพัฒนาตนเองได้ดีก็จะเป็นกำลังสำคัญและมีคุณค่าต่อการพัฒนาสังคมและประเทศชาติ ขณะเดียวกัน การพัฒนาสังคมและประเทศชาติก็จะเป็นพลังขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาของบุคคลด้วยกระบวนการพัฒนา 2 ส่วนนี้ จึงมีความต่อเนื่อง สัมพันธ์กัน และในสภาวะปัจจุบัน ความร่วมมือในระดับนานาชาติ จะมีผลอย่างสำคัญยิ่งต่อความก้าวหน้าในการพัฒนาประเทศ
