ประวัติ

ต่อมากระทรวงศึกษาธิการ ได้ประกาศจัดตั้งโรงเรียนบางกะปิสุขุมนวพันธ์อุปถัมภ์ เมื่อวันที่ 8 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2540 โดยแต่งตั้งนางมานี ขำเพ็ง ผู้ช่วยผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนบางกะปิ เป็นผู้บริหารโรงเรียนคนแรก ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2541 กรมสามัญศึกษา ได้แต่งตั้ง นางกานดา สุขทุม ผู้ช่วยผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนราชวินิตบางแคปานขำ รักษาราชการในตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนบางกะปิสุขุมนวพันธ์อุปถัมภ์ และได้รับจัดสรรอาคารชั่วคราวกึ่งถาวร 1 หลัง จำนวน 4 ห้องเรียน พร้อมโต๊ะและเก้าอี้ ครู และนักเรียน ได้ดำเนินการจัดสร้างในที่ดินของโรงเรียนบางกะปิสุขุมนวพันธ์อุปถัมภ์ หลังสำนักงานเขตบึงกุ่ม แต่เนื่องจากสถานที่ยังไม่เอื้ออำนวยในการจัดการเรียนการสอน จึงยังคงอาศัยอยู่ในโรงเรียนบางกะปิ และในปีงบประมาณ 2542 โรงเรียนได้รับงบประมาณ 69.2 ล้านบาท สำหรับสร้างอาคารเรียนแบบพิเศษ 8 ชั้น พร้อมชั้นใต้ดิน แล้วเสร็จในต้นปี พ.ศ. 2544
