งานวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อพัฒนาผู้ส่งมอบให้มีประสิทธิภาพในการบริหารโซ่อุปทานโดยการถ่ายทอดความรู้ด้านลีนไปยังผู้ส่งมอบ เพื่อให้สามารถนำความรู้ที่ใช้ไปปฏิบัติงานในโรงงาน มีความสามารถในการพัฒนาตนเองมีประสิทธิภาพการส่งมอบที่ดีขึ้น

ปัจจุบันโรงงานตัวอย่างใช้ระบบลีนในการบริหารการผลิตภายในองค์กร โดยคำนึงถึงการผลิตสินค้าแบบทันเวลาพอดี มีการผลิตชิ้นส่วนรถยนต์ให้กับหลายลูกค้า จึงทำให้มีผู้ส่งมอบชิ้นส่วนเป็นจำนวนมาก ซึ่งก่อให้เกิดปัญหา คือ ผู้ส่งมอบส่งสินค้าไม่ทันตามเวลาที่กำหนด ส่งสินค้ามาน้อยกว่าที่สั่งซื้อ ไม่มีการนำเอกสารมาส่งพร้อมสินค้า ทำให้เสียเวลาและเสียค่าใช้จ่าย ไม่สามารถผลิตสินค้าที่ต้องการ ในเวลาที่ต้องการ ในปริมาณที่ต้องการได้ ส่งผลให้ส่งสินค้าไม่ทันตามกำหนด
