ประเพณีแห่เทียนพรรษา[แก้]

งานประเพณีแห่เทียนพรรษา เป็นประเพณีทางพุทธศาสนา ของชาวอุบลราชธานี ซึ่งมีความเจริญในพุทธศาสนา วัฒนธรรม และประเพณีมาเป็นเวลายาวนานอีกทั้งยังเป็นต้นตำรับของงานประเพณีแห่เทียนเข้าพรรษาของไทยด้วย ถือเป็นงานบุญที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดของจังหวัดอุบลราชธานีเป็นที่รู้จักของนักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติ โดยได้กำหนดจัดงานขึ้นในวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำเดือน 8 และแรม 1 ค่ำเดือน 8 หรือวันอาสาฬหบูชาและวันเข้าพรรษา จัดให้มีขึ้นทุกปี
จากการสอบถามผู้เฒ่าผู้แก่ ได้ความว่า ชาวอุบลราชธานี ได้ทำต้นเทียนประกวดประชันความวิจิตรบรรจงกัน ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2470 จนเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2520 จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ได้จัดงานสัปดาห์ประเพณีแห่เทียนพรรษา ให้เป็นงานประเพณีที่ยิ่งใหญ่และมโหฬาร สถานที่จัดงานคือ บริเวณทุ่งศรีเมืองและศาลาจตุรมุข มีการประกวดต้นเทียน 2 ประเภท คือ ประเภทติดพิมพ์ และประเภทแกะสลัก โดยขบวนแห่จากคุ้มวัดต่างๆ พร้อมนางฟ้าประจำต้นเทียน จะเคลื่อนขบวนจาก หน้าวัดศรีอุบลรัตนาราม ไปตามถนน มาสิ้นสุดขบวนที่ทุ่งศรีเมือง และการแสดงสมโภชต้นเทียน แลเป็นแสงไฟต้องลำเทียนงามอร่ามไปทั้งงาน

ขบวนแห่เทียนพรรษา
ก่อน สมัยพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอกรมหลวงสรรพสิทธิประสงค์ เป็นผู้สำเร็จราชการเมืองอุบล ชาวอุบลไม่มีการหล่อเทียนแห่เทียนเช่นปัจจุบัน ชาวบ้านจะฟั่นเทียนยาวรอบศีรษะไปถวายพระเพื่อจุดบูชาจำพรรษา ครั้นในสมัยกรมหลวงสรรพสิทธิประสงค์ ได้ เป็นผู้สำเร็จราชการที่เมืองอุบล คราวหนึ่งมีการแห่บั้งไฟที่วัดกลาง มีคนไปดูมาก ในการแห่บั้งไฟมีการตีกันในขบวนแห่จนถึงแก่ความตาย เสด็จในกรมเห็นว่าไม่ดี จึงให้เลิกการแห่บั้งไฟและเปลี่ยนเป็นการแห่เทียนแทน
การแห่เทียนแต่เดิมไม่ได้จัดใหญ่โตเช่นปัจจุบัน เพียงแต่ชาวบ้านร่วมกันบริจาคเทียน แล้วนำเทียนมาติดกับลำไม้ไผ่ที่เตรียมไว้ ตามรอยต่อหากระดาษจังโก (กระดาษสีเงินสีทอง) ตัดเป็นลายฟันปลาปิดรอยต่อ เสร็จแล้วนำต้นเทียนไปมัดติดกับปิ๊ปน้ำมันก๊าด ฐานของต้นเทียนใช้ไม้ตีเป็นแผ่นเรียบ หรือทำสูงขึ้นเป็นชั้นๆ ติดกระดาษ เสร็จแล้วมีการแห่นำไปถวายวัด พาหนะที่ใช้นิยใช้เกวียน หรือล้อเลื่อนที่ใช้วัวหรือคนลากจูง การแห่ของชาวบ้านก็จะมีฆ้อง กลอง กรับ และการฟ้อนรำด้วยความสนุกสนาน

ในช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2494 ประชาชนเริ่มให้ความสนใจและเห็นความสำคัญ ในการทำและแห่เทียนพรรษามากขึ้น เมื่อทางจังหวัดได้ส่งเสริมให้งานเข้าพรรษาเป็นงานประเพณีประจำปี แต่ต้นเทียนในขณะนั้นยังมีการจัดทำอยู่เพียง 2 ประเภท คือ ประเภทมัดเทียนรวมกันแล้วติดกระดาษสีและประเภทพิมพ์ลายติดลำต้น
ใน พ.ศ. 2495 ได้มีการฟื้นฟูศิลปะการทำต้นเทียน และการแห่เทียนพรรษาของ จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี มีการประกวดเทียนพรรษา 2 ประเภท คือ ประเภทมัดรวมติดลาย และประเภท ติดพิมพ์
ครั้น พ.ศ. 2497 ช่างฝีมือรุ่นเยาว์ อันได้แก่ นายอารีย์ สินสวัสดิ์ นายประดับ ก้อนแก้ว ได้พัฒนาวิธีทำขึ้นใหม่ โดยใช้ปูนพลาสเตอร์แกะเป็นแม่พิมพ์ลายต่างๆ แล้วหล่อด้วยเทียนออกมาเป็นดอกๆ ผึ้งที่ใช้หล่อดอกไม้คนละสีกับลำต้น จึงทำให้มองเห็นเป็นส่วนลึกของลายอย่างชัดเจน นายประดับ ก้อนแก้ว ได้ทำต้นเทียนติดพิมพ์ และตกแต่งขบวนต้นเทียนของวัดมหาวนารามได้อย่างสวยงาม จนได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ
ประมาณปี พ.ศ. 2500 มีการจัดงานกึ่งพุทธกาลทั่วประเทศ งานด้านศาสนาจึงเฟื่องฟูมาก การแห่เทียนพรรษาของจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ได้รับการสนับสนุนให้ยิ่งใหญ่มากขึ้น ทั้งด้านการจัดขบวนแห่ และการจัดหาสาวงามสำหรับต้นเทียน
พ.ศ. 2502 นายคำหมา แสงงาม ช่างสูงอายุคนหนึ่งได้คิดและแกะสลักต้นเทียนโดยไม่ต้องพิมพ์ดอกมาติด เหมือนเช่นที่ช่างรุ่นก่อนทำมา ทำให้ต้นเทียนแกะสลักที่นายคำหมาทำให้กับบ้านกุดเป่ง อำเภอวารินชำราบ มีความแปลกใหม่สวยงาม ดังนั้น ในปีต่อมา จึงได้มีการเสนอให้จัดประกวดต้นเทียน 3 ประเภท คือ ประเภทมัดรวมติดลาย ประเภทติดพิมพ์ และประเภทแกะสลัก ระยะต่อมา จึงตัดต้นเทียนประเภทมัดรวมติดลายที่เป็นต้นเทียนแบบเก่า ออกจากการประกวด ช่างแกะสลักต้นเทียนที่มีฝีมือในรุ่นต่อมา ได้แก่ นายอุตส่าห์ จันทรวิจิตร และนายสมัยจันทรวิจิตร ซึ่งเป็นพี่น้องกัน
นับตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2520 จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ได้จัดงานสัปดาห์ประเพณีแห่เทียนพรรษา ให้เป็นงานประเพณีที่ยิ่งใหญ่และมโหฬารมากที่สุดในประเทศไทย มีการประกวดต้นเทียนประเภทต่างๆ ประกวดขบวนแห่ และนางฟ้า โดยมีหลักเกณฑ์และวิธีการให้คะแนนอย่างรัดกุม มีการประชาสัมพันธ์งานกันอย่างกว้างขวางและททท.ได้จัดให้บรรจุลงในปฏิทินการท่องเที่ยว ทำให้มีผู้คนทั้งชาวไทยและต่างชาติมาเที่ยวและชมงานเป็นจำนวนมาก ปัจจุบันจัดได้ว่าเป็นงานแห่เทียนต้นตำรับที่ยังคงรักษาเอกลักษณ์ได้อย่างครบถ้วน
ปี พ.ศ. 2555 เป็นปีที่จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี จัดงานประเพณีแห่เทียนเข้าพรรษาครบรอบ 111 ปี ในชื่องาน "111 ปีลือเลื่อง ฮุ่งเฮืองเมืองธรรม งามล้ำเทียนพรรษา ภูมิปัญญาชาวอุบล"
