ประเพณีบุญข้าวประดับดิน บุญเดือนเก้า เป็นอีกหนึ่งประเพณีที่สืบทอดกันมาในภาคอีสาน โดยบุญข้าวประดับดิน เป็นงานประเพณีที่ถูกจัดขึ้นในวันแรม 14 ค่ำ เดือนเก้า ของทุก ๆ ปี และในปี 2557 ประเพณีบุญข้าวประดับดิน ก็ตรงกับวันที่ 24 สิงหาคม ทั้งนี้ในการทำบุญข้าวประดับดินนั้น ชาวบ้านจะนำข้าวปลา อาหาร คาวหวาน ผลไม้ หมาก พลู บุหรี่ มาห่อด้วยใบตอง และทำเป็นห่อเล็ก ๆ ก่อนจะนำไปวางตามโคนต้นไม้ใหญ่หรือตามพื้นดินบริเวณรอบ ๆ เจดีย์ หรือโบสถ์ โดยการทำบุญข้าวประดับดินนี้ ชาวบ้านเชื่อว่า เป็นการทำบุญเพื่ออุทิศส่วนกุศลให้แก่ผู้ล่วงลับไปแล้ว รวมถึงอุทิศส่วนกุศลให้กับสัตว์นรก หรือเปรต

พิธีกรรมบุญข้าวประดับดิน มีดังนี้
1. วันแรม 13 ค่ำ เดือน 9 ชาวบ้านจะเตรียมข้าวต้ม ขนม อาหารคาวหวาน หมาก พลู และบุหรี่ไว้ 4 ส่วน ส่วนหนึ่งเลี้ยงดูกันภายในครอบครัว ส่วนที่สองแจกให้ญาติพี่น้อง ส่วนที่สามอุทิศให้ญาติที่ตายไปแล้ว และส่วนที่สี่นำไปถวายพระสงฆ์
ในส่วนที่สาม ญาติโยมจะห่อข้าวน้อย ซึ่งมีวิธีการห่อคือ ใช้ใบตองห่อ ขนาดเท่าฝ่ามือ ส่วนความยาวนั้นให้ยาวสุดซีกของใบตอง
