- เปลี่ยนรูปไปจากเดิม เช่น go-went, do/does-did, take-took
- เติม d หรือ ed ท้ายคำกริยา เช่น play-played
- เขียนเหมือนเดิมแต่อ่านออกเสียงต่างจากเดิม เช่น read-read อ่านว่า /ri:d/-/red/
