ในการศึกษาเรื่องป้องกันภัยเด็ก NUIC ติดเกมของ นิสิตวิทยาลัยนานาชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวร
ผู้วิจัยได้รวบรวมแนวคิดทฤษฎีและหลักการต่าง ๆ จากเอกสารและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องมีรายละเอียดดังนี้

2.1 ปัญหาเด็กติดเกม
ปัญหาสมัยใหม่ที่พ่อแม่ผู้ปกครอง บางคนต้องประสบก็คือปัญหาเด็กติดเกม ซึ่งเกมที่เด็กติดนั้นจะเป็นเกมคอมพิวเตอร์ โดยเฉพาะเกมออนไลน์ที่สามารถเล่นพร้อมไปกับคนอื่นที่อยู่ไกลๆกันได้ โดยอาการที่เด็กติดนั้นเด็กจะเล่นเกมติดต่อกันได้นานๆ หลายชั่วโมงโดยไม่ยอมหยุด หรือไปทำกิจกรรมอื่นเลย ปัญหานี้จะสร้างความเครียด ความปวดหัวให้กับพ่อแม่อย่างที่สุด เด็กที่ติดเกมส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นเด็กที่ว่ายาก สอนยากหรือดื้อรั้น ส่วนมากไม่ค่อยสนใจเรื่องการเรียน หรือเรียนไม่เก่ง เรื่องการงานก็ไม่ค่อยจะสนใจช่วยพ่อแม่ทำ เด็กบางคนใช้เงินที่พ่อแม่ให้ไว้กินขนมหมดไปกับการ เล่นเกม การที่พ่อแม่คิดว่าเพียงแค่ลูกเล่นเกมนั้นจะไม่เกิดผลเสียขนาดถึงกับทำให้ลูกเสียการเรียนและเสียอนาคตได้ โทษจากการติดเกมนั้นมีทั้งโดยตรงและโดยอ้อม ซึ่งโทษโดยตรงนั้นก็คือทำให้เสียสุขภาพ คือ เด็กจะไม่ได้พักผ่อน ไม่ได้ออกกำลังกาย เพราะเด็กจะนั่งเล่นเกมติดต่อกันนานๆ อีกทั้งยังทำให้เสียเงินทองไม่ว่าจะใช้ซื้อคอมพิวเตอร์มาไว้เล่นเองหรือ ไปเช่าร้านเกมเล่นก็ตาม เป็นต้น ปัญหาเด็กติดเกมนั้น สามารถส่งผลกระทบได้ทั้งในส่วนตัวของเด็กเอง ครอบครัว หรือรวมไปถึงสังคมที่เด็กอยู่ ซึ่งมักจะเห็นเป็นสืบเนื่องยาวเป็นลูกโซ่เลยทีเดียว ถ้าเกิดปัญหากับส่วนใดแล้วนั้นก็จะทำให้ส่วนอื่นๆ ย่อมเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงตามไปด้วย เช่น เมื่อเกิดปัญหากับตัวเด็กย่อมส่งผลต่อความเครียดในครอบครัวได้ อาจทำให้เกิดเป็นสัมพันธภาพที่ขัดแย้งกัน นอกจากนี้การเล่นเกมของเด็กยังอาจเติบโตรุนแรงไปสู่ปัญหาอาชญากรรมอื่นๆตามมาและจะส่งผลต่อไปยังสังคมได้อีกด้วย
