พระรูปทรงฉายกับสมเด็จพระปิตุจฉาเจ้าสุขุมาลมารศรี พระอัครราชเทวี
สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ เจ้าฟ้าบริพัตรสุขุมพันธุ์ เป็นพระราชโอรสในพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว และสมเด็จพระปิตุจฉาเจ้าสุขุมาลมารศรี พระอัครราชเทวี ประสูติเมื่อวันพุธ ขึ้น 3 ค่ำ เดือน 8 ปีมะเส็ง ตรงกับวันที่ 29 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2424 [1] ในพระบรมมหาราชวัง มีพระพี่นางพระนามว่า สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ เจ้าฟ้าสุทธาทิพยรัตน์ สุขุมขัตติยกัลยาวดี กรมหลวงศรีรัตนโกสินทร ทรงศึกษาชั้นต้นที่โรงเรียนพระตำหนักสวนกุหลาบ ทรงสำเร็จการศึกษาจากวิทยาลัยเสนาธิการ แห่งเยอรมนี เจ้าฟ้าบริพัตรสุขุมพันธุ์ ทรงประทับที่วังบางขุนพรหม ซึ่งเป็นวังที่มีความใหญ่โตโอ่อ่าที่สุด กอรปกับทรงมีตำแหน่งหน้าที่สำคัญต่าง ๆ มากมาย จึงได้รับการกล่าวขานอีกฉายาหนึ่งจากคนทั่วไปว่า "จอมพลบางขุนพรหม" หรือ "เจ้าฟ้าวังบางขุนพรหม" ทรงเป็นต้นราชสกุลบริพัตร [2]
