           อุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะสิมิลัน ตั้งอยู่ที่ ตำบลเกาะพระทอง อำเภอคุระบุรี (ที่ทำการอุทยาน ตั้งอยู่ที่  ตำบลลำแก่น อำเภอท้ายเหมือง) ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ 80,000 ไร่ ประกาศเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ เมื่อ 1 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2525 คำว่า สิมิลัน เป็นภาษายาวี หรือ มลายู แปลว่า เก้า หมู่เกาะสิมิลันเป็นหมู่เกาะเล็กๆ สถานที่ท่องเที่ยวในประเทศไทย ในทะเลอันดามัน มี 9 เกาะ เรียงจากเหนือ มา ใต้ คือ เกาะหูยง เกาะปายัง เกาะปาหยัน เกาะเมี่ยง เกาะปายู เกาะหัวกะโหลก เกาะสิมิลัน และเกาะบางู หมู่เกาะสิมิลัน สถานที่ท่องเที่ยวในประเทศไทย ได้รับการยกย่องว่าเป็นหมู่เกาะที่มีความสวยงามทั้งบนบกและใต้น้ำ มีปะการังที่สวยงามหลายชนิด สามารถดำน้ำได้ทั้งน้ำตื้นและน้ำลึก สามารถพบปลาที่หายาก เช่น วาฬ โลมา ปลาไหลมอเร่(moray) ช่วงเดือนที่น่าเที่ยวมากที่สุด คือช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายน ถึง เดือนเมษายน นอกจากนั้นจะประกาศปิดเกาะ
