เมื่อวันที่ 7 ม.ค. นายสุธี มากบุญ รมช.มหาดไทย กล่าวว่า ตนได้รับรายงานจากกรมป้องกัน และบรรเทาสาธารณภัย (ปภ.) ถึงสถานการณ์อุทกภัยในภาคใต้ ว่า มีพื้นที่ประสบภัย 8 จังหวัด ได้แก่ สุราษฎร์ธานี นครศรีธรรมราช พัทลุง สงขลา ปัตตานี ยะลา นราธิวาส และตรัง ปัจจุบันสถานการณ์คลี่คลายแล้ว 7 จังหวัด ยังคงมีสถานการณ์อุทกภัยในพื้นที่ลุ่มต่ำ 1 จังหวัด ได้แก่ ปัตตานี ซึ่งได้กำชับให้กรมป้องกันและบรรเทาสาธารณภัย ประสานจังหวัดปฏิบัติการแก้ไขปัญหาและให้การช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัย อีกทั้งสำรวจและประเมินความเสียหายของพื้นที่ประสบภัย

ด้านนายฉัตรชัย พรหมเลิศ อธิบดี ปภ. เปิดเผยว่า ฝนที่ตกหนักต่อเนื่องในภาคใต้ ตั้งแต่วันที่ 14 ธ.ค.2557 จนถึงปัจจุบัน ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตแล้ว 15 ราย ผู้บาดเจ็บ 8 คน ประชาชนได้รับผลกระทบ 216,873 ครัวเรือน 668,063 คนบ้านเรือนเสียหายทั้งหลัง 64 หลัง เสียหายบางส่วน 4,458 หลัง พื้นที่การเกษตรเสียหาย 119,839 ไร่ ถนนเสียหาย 1,664 สาย ปัจจุบันสถานการณ์คลี่คลายแล้ว 7 จังหวัด ได้แก่ นครศรีธรรมราช สุราษฎร์ธานี ตรัง ยะลา นราธิวาส พัทลุง และสงขลา ยังคงมีสถานการณ์อุทกภัยในพื้นที่ลุ่มต่ำของจังหวัดปัตตานี รวม 3 อำเภอ 4 ตำบล 13 หมู่บ้าน 1,808 ครัวเรือน 6,328 คน ปัจจุบันไม่มีฝนตกในพื้นที่ ระดับน้ำท่วมลดลง คาดว่าสถานการณ์จะกลับเข้าสู่ภาวะปกติภายใน 2 – 3 วัน ซึ่ง ปภ. ได้ร่วมกับหน่วยทหารและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องในพื้นที่ให้การช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัย รวมถึงสำรวจและประเมินความเสียหายของพื้นที่ประสบภัย เพื่อเยียวยาความเดือดร้อนของผู้ประสบภัยอย่างเต็มที่.
