การประชุมได้ข้อสรุปว่า แม้กลุ่มประเทศอาเซียนมีระบบเครือข่ายการขนส่งทางเรือที่มีรูปแบบหลากหลาย แต่เมื่อทั้ง 10 ประเทศก้าวเข้าสู่เออีซีในปลายปีนี้ ต้องมองภาพรวมการบริหารที่ใหญ่ขึ้นจากการรวมตัวกันของสมาชิก เช่น พึ่งพาทรัพยากรทางเศรษฐกิจร่วมกัน เสริมสร้างความแข็งแกร่งนำไปสู่การสร้างโอกาสทางการค้าร่วมกัน
