ตามที่ พล.ร.อ.ณรงค์ พิพัฒนาศัย รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ มอบนโยบายให้สถาบันทดสอบทางการศึกษาแห่งชาติ (สทศ.) พิจารณาปรับลดการสอบแบบทดสอบทางการศึกษาระดับชาติขั้นพื้นฐาน หรือโอเน็ต จาก 8 กลุ่มสาระวิชา ทั้งนี้คณะกรรมการบริหาร สทศ.ได้นำเรื่องเข้าพิจารณาแล้วเห็นควรปรับลดลงแต่เหลือกี่วิชานั้น ต้องให้ พล.ร.อ.ณรงค์เห็นชอบก่อนนั้น

นพ.ธีระเกียรติเปิดเผยว่า การสอบโอเน็ต ป.6 และ ม.3 เรียบร้อยดี ส่วนการพิจารณาการปรับลดการสอบโอเน็ตนั้น คณะทำงานได้หารือทุกฝ่ายแล้วมีมติร่วมกันว่า ควรจะปรับลดการสอบโอเน็ตจากเดิมทั้งหมด 8 กลุ่มสาระวิชา เหลือ 5 กลุ่มสาระวิชา ได้แก่ คณิตศาสตร์ วิทยาศาสตร์ ภาษาไทย ภาษาอังกฤษ และสังคมศึกษา โดย สทศ.จะเป็นผู้ออกข้อสอบตามเดิม ส่วนกลุ่มสาระวิชาสังคมศึกษา จะแบ่งการสอบเป็น 2 ส่วน โดยส่วนแรกเป็นการวัดความรู้ที่จำเป็นในการดำรงชีวิต ความจำ และความคิดสร้างสรรค์ ข้อสอบเป็นแนววิเคราะห์ ไม่ใช่การถามความจำ ซึ่ง สทศ.เป็นผู้ออกข้อสอบ ส่วนที่ 2 เป็นการสอบภาคปฏิบัติวิชาภูมิศาสตร์ ประวัติศาสตร์ เศรษฐศาสตร์ หน้าที่พลเมือง และศาสนาวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งเป็นวิชาที่ต้องใช้ทักษะการเรียนรู้ที่สอดคล้องกับบริบทของพื้นที่ จึงให้โรงเรียนออกข้อสอบเอง การปรับลดในครั้งนี้ถือเป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่ เพราะโรงเรียนเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการออกข้อสอบโอเน็ตด้วย ขณะนี้ สทศ.ได้เสนอเรื่องดังกล่าวให้ พล.ร.อ.ณรงค์พิจารณาแล้ว คาดว่าจะนำเข้าที่ประชุมกระทรวงศึกษาธิการในครั้งต่อไป หากที่ประชุมเห็นชอบก็สามารถดำเนินการได้ทันที
