สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ พระราชทานพระราชดำริเกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมการสหกรณ์ โดยให้มีการปลูกฝังความรู้แก่เด็กนักเรียนและส่งเสริมให้มีการตั้งสหกรณ์ขึ้นในชุมชนที่มีความพร้อม เป็นที่มาของโครงการส่งเสริมสหกรณ์ในโรงเรียนตำรวจตระเวนชายแดนนับแต่ปี ๒๕๓๔ เป็นต้นมา
