วิธีการคัดกรองของกระทรวงสาธารณสุข มี 2 วิธีคือ
1. Pap smear เป็นวิธีที่ใช้กันมากที่สุด เพราะใช้เวลา 2-5 นาที และรู้ผลภายใน 2-4 สัปดาห์
2. VIA เป็นวิธีที่ง่าย ค่าใช้จ่ายต่ำ รู้ผลทันที และกำลังเป็นที่นิยมโดยการใช้น้ำส้มสายชูชนิดเจือจางป้ายบริเวณปากมดลูก ทิ้งไว้ 1 นาที น้ำส้มสายชูจะไปทำปฏิกิริยากับเนื้อเยื่อที่ผิดปกติของปากมดลูกให้เห็นเป็นฝ้าขาว ซึ่งสามารถมองเห็นด้วยตาเปล่าและรักษาได้ทันทีด้วยการจี้เย็น (Cryotherapy)
