การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนวิชาประวัติศาสตร์ เรื่องประวัติศาสตร์สมัยสุโขทัย กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นนักเรียน กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือ นักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1/2 โรงเรียนวัดจันทร์ประดิษฐาราม จำนวน 30 คน โดยวิธีการสอนแบบสืบเสาะ (5E) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบทดสอบก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูป สถิติที่ใช้ คือ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทางสถิติใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูป SPSS
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า แบบทดสอบก่อนเรียนวัดผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนประวัติศาสตร์เรื่อง อาณาจักรสุโขทัย วัดด้วยแบบวัดแบบมาตรประมาณค่าตามแบบของลิเคอร์ท 4 ระดับ จำนวน 20 ข้อคำถาม ( คะแนนเต็มข้อคำถามละ 1 คะแนน) ผลการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติวิธีการสอนแบบสืบเสาะ (5E)ให้เห็นว่ามีนักเรียนให้ข้อมูลจำนวน 30 คน มีค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (Standard deviation) เท่ากับ .463 - .500 และมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ .56 - .79 ตามลำดับ
