มนุษย์คนแรกจึงเกิดขึ้นมีนามว่า อาดัม หลังจากนั้น อัลลอฮฺ ( ซ.บ.)ก็ได้ทรงสร้างคู่ครองให้แก่อาดัมซึ่งมีนามว่า ฮาวา
เมื่ออาดัมถูกทำให้มีชีวิตขึ้นมาแล้ว อัลลอฮฺได้ทรงสอนอาดัมให้รู้ชื่อของทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่จำเป็นต่อการมีชีวิต และต่อการเป็นตัวแทนบนหน้าแผ่นดินตามที่พระองค์ทรงเจตนา อาดัมจึงมีความรู้มากมาย หลังจากนั้นอัลลอฮฺได้ทรงหันไปยังมลาอิก๊ะฮฺ และกล่าวว่า “ ทีนี้พวกเจ้าจงบอกถึงชื่อของสิ่งต่าง ๆ ให้เราได้รู้หน่อยซิ ถ้าหากว่าพวกเจ้าแน่จริง "
มลาอิกะฮฺ จึงตอบว่า “ มหาบริสุทธิ์ยิ่งแด่พระองค์ เราไม่มีความรู้ใด ๆ เว้นแต่เท่าที่พระองค์ทรงสอนพวกเราเท่านั้น แท้จริงแล้ว พระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ทรงรอบรู้ ผู้ทรงปรีชาสามารถ ”
อัลลอฮฺ ( ซ.บ. ) จึงได้ทรงมีบัญชาแก่อาดัมว่า “ อาดัมเอ๋ย ทีนี้เจ้าจงบอกชื่อของสิ่งเหล่านี้ให้แก่พวกเขาซิ ”
